What to Expect

During Your First Session

We have 3 main priorities during the first session:

1. To understand your needs and goals.

2. To build a connection and relationship.

3. Create a thoughtful and meaningful plan that truly fits your needs and goals.

  • You’ll receive an email with a link to a secure Client Portal. There you will complete some brief intake forms so we can learn about your strengths, challenges, and history.

  • We’ll review any previous evaluations, IEPs, or reports (if available).

  • We will connect you directly with the clinician that is the best fit for your needs and schedule.

  • You’ll receive clear details about time, location, and what to bring—no guesswork.

Prior to the first session:

During Your Session

1. Connection First

Your comfort matters. And true progress and learning can only happen when an authentic relationship is formed. Sessions are personalized, play- or activity-based, and paced for your needs—whether for a child, teen, or adult.

2. Observation & Assessment

We gather meaningful information by:

  • Observing natural communication in real-life situations

  • Listening to speech, language, social, or cognitive skills

  • Noting strengths, challenges, and learning style

  • We may use formal or informal methods for gathering this information

This helps us see how skills show up in daily life, not just on paper.

3. Caregiver / Family Involvement

When appropriate, caregivers join the session to:

  • Observe and understand therapy goals

  • Learn strategies to support progress at home

We believe progress is fastest when families are part of the process. Some clients may benefit from some individual time alone with the clinician, we will work together to determine the most supportive environment.

After the session:

You’ll leave with:

  • Clear Feedback & Next Steps

  • Observations and initial impressions

  • Recommended therapy goals and session frequency

  • Guidance for home practice and carryover

  • No pressure or obligations- after your first session, one of the owners, Michelle or Christina, will be in touch to check in. If for any reason you do not feel the clinician is a good fit or if you do not wish to continue, you are free to discuss changes or discontinue at any time. We will always do our best to accommodate our clients.
